DAZN LAUNCHES DIRECT CARRIER BILLING IN EUROPE

Fans in Germany and Switzerland become the first to be able to subscribe to DAZN via their mobile phone bill

Partnership with Telefónica Germany (o2) and Swisscom enables simple and secure payment as live coverage of many sports returns to DAZN

LONDON & BERLIN (9 June 2020) – DAZN, the global sports streaming service, has expanded its payment options to allow customers to pay for their subscription via their mobile phone bill.

DAZN has collaborated with Telefónica Germany (o2) and Swisscom to enable ‘Direct Carrier Billing’, a faster and easier way for customers in Germany and Switzerland to sign up to its sports service. The innovation is designed to further simplify and streamline the customer experience and launches with the return of many live sports to DAZN, including the Bundesliga.

DAZN’s payment options currently include all major credit and debit cards, Paypal, Klarna and prepaid gift cards. Customers can also register and pay via the Apple’s App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Fire TV through in-app purchases.

Ben King, SVP Global Distribution and Business Development, DAZN said: “Our customers have clearly told us how they enjoy the speed, simplicity and convenience of paying for digital entertainment through their mobile phone – and so we are thrilled to collaborate with global leaders, Telefónica Germany (o2), Swisscom and Boku to enable this feature for them. We expect this to be the first of many operator payment partnerships in Europe and globally as we continue our mission to build the world’s most affordable and accessible sports service for fans.”

“We are very pleased about our new partnership with DAZN. Through it, we can now offer our customers an additional service,” says Pia von Houwald, Director B2P Digital Processes & Services at Telefónica Germany. “Payment by mobile phone bill and an attractive network of digital service providers strengthen customer relations for all Telefónica Germany brands”, von Houwald adds.

Amir Peled, VP of OTT at Swisscom, said: “Swisscom is committed to letting our customers transact quickly and securely with a wide range of goods and services. This partnership with DAZN ensures a streamlined and frictionless means of accessing premium sport that we are sure our customers are going to love”.

This initiative forms part of the ‘DAZN for Operators’ partnership programme via which DAZN collaborates with the world’s leading mobile carriers, broadband ISPs and pay TV operators. The programme works to make live sport streaming even more accessible for fans whilst enabling partners to build stronger, more valuable and long-lasting relationships with their customers through the mass appeal of live sport.
