DAZN introduces expert management team in Germany

Leading digital sport content broadcaster, Perform Group, has announced the expansion of its Perform OTT team in Germany to lead on its highly anticipated sport platform – DAZN. DAZN is the new live sports streaming service and will be launching in Germany, Austria and Switzerland this summer.

A game-changer in the world of sport broadcasting, DAZN is designed to put fans first and gives them access to the world’s best sport anytime, anywhere, completely changing how fans can view their favourite sports. To launch this unique product, Perform has brought in a team of experts who will be responsible for rights-acquisition and distribution, marketing, content and production.

Kay Dammholz (47) is the newest hire at DAZN and comes in as Managing Director of Rights & Distribution. Having previously been the Vice President of Sales at DFL Sports Enterprises where he successfully led the worldwide marketing of Bundesliga, he is a well-known figure in the sport-rights business and will be based at Perform’s office in Munich. He will lead on rights acquisition, the commercial operation of sports rights and the distribution and sub-licensing of partnerships in the DACH region.

Benjamin Reininger (39) was brought onto the team earlier this year to head up DAZN’s marketing across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He will lead on all marketing-related activity including creative production, communications and media and product partnerships. Before joining DAZN, Reininger re-launched Onefootball turning it into one of the most successful football-platforms in the world. Prior to that he worked at internationally renowned advertising agency DDB.

Top-journalist Haruka Gruber (36) will lead on all content for DAZN. Gruber was Content Director and Chief Editor for Perform’s sister portal SPOX.com where he and his team were awarded “Best Sports Website” in 2015 at the German Sport Journalist Awards. Gruber comes in as Commercial Content and Planning Director working across a number of different platforms at Perform Group where will ensure the consistency of content across all of the group’s companies, including DAZN.

Finally, Michael Bracher (49) comes in as Head of Production, managing over 100 journalists and producers in the production team based in Munich. Bracher has a wealth of experience in his field having previously worked in managing positions at SAT1 and Sport1/DSF before leading the successful launch of the IPTV platform “LIGA total!”

James Rushton, CEO of DAZN, has great expectations: “There has never been a product like DAZN before. With access to more than 8,000 live-events each year, on any device at any time, DAZN will totally change the way fans consume their sport. We are really happy that we’ve got the experts for this pioneering project in our team and I’m confident that our management team is the very best to successfully launch DAZN in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”
